魏嘉盟大使昨日出席北京大学东方学系成立80周年庆典活动，与北京大学校长高松教授、方副校长以及众多杰出学者和教职人员共同出席。

大使向北京大学及东方学领域全体同仁表示祝贺，并回顾了北京大学印度研究的悠久历史以及历代中印学者所作出的贡献。他强调，持续深入的学术研究与交流，对于增进中印两国相互了解、促进对彼此国家更加深入和客观的认知具有重要意义。

Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami attended the 80th anniversary celebration of the Department of Oriental Studies at Peking University yesterday, joining University President Prof. Gao Song, Vice President Fang and distinguished scholars and faculty.

Ambassador congratulated the University and its Oriental Studies community, recalling the long history of India studies at PKU and the contributions of generations of Indian and Chinese scholars.
